3 things to add to your vegas to-do list

With so many things to do in Sin City, these 3 things will surely make your trip one to remember

Vegas is one America’s most popular adult playgrounds.  Whether you’re there to take a chance and roll the dice or party like a Rock star, Vegas has something for everybody.  One of my favorite things about traveling is having the chance to do and experience things unavailable in DC. From food to fun, finding local attractions, unique dining experiences, or popular concepts with limited locations is always my top priority when deciding what to put on my travel agenda. While my second trip to Vegas was a perfect mix of libation and celebration, two places I visited really offered unique experiences.  The third place I’ll be sharing I was unable to get to (I didn’t get wind of this place until the Lyft ride to the airport), but is equally unique and will definitely be at the top of my next Vegas Itinerary. In the words of Champagne Papi, “Get it while you here, Girl”.

  1. Sittin’ on Top of the World

I don’t know about you, but I’ve never been to a restaurant [ feet off the ground]; and a rotating one at that.  I know quite a few major cities have similar concepts, but since I’d never been, I figured why not get 360 degree views of the Vegas Strip while enjoying amazing food?  Top of the World is inside of The Strat Hotel and Casino, which is also home to multiple thrill rides ready to dangle you off the edge of the Tower . The elevator takes you up 70 floors in about 30 seconds. Your first steps into the restaurant offer amazing views of the Las Vegas Strip and surrounding area.  We went at night so flashing neon casino signs, streetlights, and cars illuminated the sights below. I would highly recommend this during sunset. Vegas is surrounded by mountains, and getting a glimpse of them before complete darkness would be absolutely beautiful.  The restaurant completes one revolution every 90 minutes- just enough time to eat your heart out. The a la carte menu has an ample selection of starters, appetizers, and entrees. This was potentially a one- time experience, so I had to have one of each. For starters I had the Beet Salad (so good considering I’m not a huge beet fan.  FYI: The Rose’ colored urine (TMI, I know) that eventually followed was also totally worth it. Next, I had the Lobster Bisque, followed by the Lamb Chops. As a personal side I had the Lobster Mac and Cheese. Last Up: Butter Cake with Vanilla Ice Cream for three. Whew! I left full and happy. If you’re willing to splurge a little bit (to the tune of about $100-150/pp), I highly recommend.  And if it’s not quite in your budget, what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas, right?

  2. Where the Neon Things Are

Ever wonder where old Casino signs are laid to rest?  A short ride from Fremont Street, the original Vegas Strip, you’ll find the Neon Museum.  The Neon Museum is an outdoor boneyard of some of the most iconic Las Vegas hotel and casino signs.  The non-profit organization is dedicated to the collection, preservation, and exhibition of the huge neon works of art that once called the strip home. If you’re down for a change of pace and want to learn some Vegas history, I highly recommend making this stop.  After all, how often are you in Vegas and close enough to the flashing signs to appreciate their beauty? If you’re really a history buff, I suggest a guided tour. One of the guides shared that one of the signs marked the spot of a brothel just steps away from the courthouse.  Interesting Fact: Nevada is the only state in the US where prostitution is legal in some form. Anywho, if you want an experience that’s uniquely Vegas, follow the signs.

3.  If you Nu better, You’d Wu Better

Out of all of the places I didn’t make it to, I think I’m the most disappointed about this one.  In fact, our Lyft driver to the airport for our departing flight shared this diamond in the rough with us.  If you’re a cannabis connoisseur this is definitely the place for you.  NuWu is the first open cannabis consumption lounge in Nevada and the US.  At NuWu you’re invited to socially put one in the air.  You’re also welcomed to try a flight of in- house cannabis with your choice of tools like bongs, dabs, pipes, and other devices before making your preferred choice.  I’m nowhere near a connoisseur, but ya girl doesn’t mind getting lifted every now and then. Hands down this will be my first stop off the plane my next time in Vegas.   So when you’re in Vegas and you want to slow your roll – pun intended- act like you Nu better and head over to the only place you can puff- puff- pass amongst cannabis- loving friends.
